Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) Survey – Purpose and Goal
This survey in response to many complaints and criticisms MA Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) has received in recent years from APR owners. The purpose of the survey was to explore the scope of these complaints.
MFBF polled landowners across the state, who had sold their development rights to the Commonwealth through the APR program. 197 responses were received which represents 27% of the known APR farms as identified by the Department of Agricultural Resources.
The goal of this survey is to provide objective information that will aid in making changes in policy, regulations and operating procedures that will strengthen the APR program and ensure APR resources are protected, while still allowing the landowner to farm and take the fullest advantage of opportunities to make their business prosper and grow.
