Four Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) members, who serve on the statewide young farmers & ranchers committee (YF&R) and/or the promotion and education (P&E) committee participated in tours, breakout sessions and networking opportunities at American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) FUSION conference this week in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“There were many learning opportunities during the conference, which will benefit my involvement with MFBF,” said MFBF At-Large Director and P&E Chair Meg Gennings. “With many targeted workshops, talented presenters and educational tours, I left the conference with new information that is critical to agriculture. I look forward to implementing these ideas to grow my leadership contributions to Farm Bureau.”
While in Milwaukee, members learned about advocacy, outreach and education; marketing; membership; and leadership training and implementation.
“I have always found the networking and idea sharing that happens at these conferences to be very useful,” said Worcester County President Ryan MacKay. “This year was no exceptions and I left with new ideas to try out both on the farm and in my Farm Bureau leadership roles.”
This conference also marked the beginning of Barbara Rogers-Scharneck’s appointment to American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF’s) promotion and education (P&E) committee. She will serve a two-year term.
“I’m very excited to learn from the committee members,” Rogers-Scharneck said. “I’m also looking forward to the projects in the pipeline and to teach the general public about agriculture and to get our message out there.” MFBF members who attended this conference, included:
- Barbara Rogers-Scharneck, MFBF P&E committee member and AFBF P&E committee member
- Meg Gennings, MFBF P&E chair, YF&R committee member and MFBF at-large director
- Ryan MacKay, MFBF YF&R committee member and MFBF director for Worcester County
- Harley-Anne Hamilton, Miss Massachusetts Agriculture
“We are very proud of our delegates who attended FUSION,” said MFBF President Mark Amato. “The skills and experiences they will bring back to their leadership roles in Massachusetts is invaluable.” Click here to learn more about the FUSION conference.
